Earthquakes, tsunamis, and accidents

On 11 March 2011 a huge earthquake hit Japan. The magnitude 9.0 quake triggered a destructive tsunami and caused a serious accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Much of the focus was, has been, and continues to be, on Fukushima.

Too much, perhaps ? Some figures:

This does not – of course – tell anything like the whole story.
Please treat as useful context.
