I’m behind on the 6 Music Introducing podcast – currently up to early July. So I’m speeding through the 1-hour broadcasts where possible. Most songs score – say – 7 out of 10 – by which I mean the general standard is pretty high. And then all of a sudden you come across something rather lovely, or quite extraordinary, and you realise you are in 10 out of 10 territory.
So it was with Zena Kitt – of Iraqi descent, living in London, and with a very beautiful voice. Her main style seems to be simple and acoustic – but the song on the podcast – Love and Regret – has a bit more production, shifting towards pop:
A simpler song that caught my ear is Edge of Love.
The soundcloud audio version brings out her vocals very nicely
Or the youtube version shows inherent talent
