Ken Bruce – a theorem

Theorem: (radio 2’s) Ken Bruce may be a little strange, but can be relied upon to play some extremely good music.

Proof: in a dizzying 15-minute spell on 3 January he played two absolute blinders.

Old and Wise is by the Alan Parsons Project and features the extraordinary Colin Blunstone, at his very best, on vocals

Colin has toured regularly for a number of years so there’s plenty of more recent live versions. Here are two of the best:

Kites dates from 1967. While it has instant appeal I suspect it is less well known than it should be. I can thank my Dad for introducing it. This version has an early (Japanese-themed) video
