King’s Cross is going to be even more amazing !
Here’s how it’s been for decades: a fine original terminus plus a modern add-on. The add-on provided a waiting area, ticket office, cafes. That’s all been cleverly moved round the side – meaning that the area can be cleared, creating a new plaza, and restoring the station to its former glory.
This is the inside. In November they started to put the barriers up, ready for clearance.
By January much had gone. This view’s in the opposite direction. The area’s starting to open up, allowing clear views across to better-known St Pancras.
There’s still more work to do.
And the new square opens up properly in the autumn.
