Cat People

6 Music were talking to Quentin Tarantino today, and the programme featured some key songs from his films. From Inglourious Basterds they took the utterly brilliant Cat People, sung by David Bowie and produced by Giorgio Moroder. The song was originally linked with a 1982 film of the same name.

I first came across it in my travelling days, and vaguely knew about Cat People, the film. I really liked it – of course – but never actually owned it on CD or record. It doesn’t seem to crop up much, and I don’t know Inglourious Basterds at all, so despite its undeniable strength I had completely forgotten about it until today.

I still haven’t seen Cat People.  If this clip is anything to go by, it’s probably worth a look
